RefereeX ("the app", "we", "our", "us") is a scheduling and assignment tool for sports referees (football/handball) in Israel, operated for referee organizations including IFA and IHA. This Privacy Policy applies to our website, https://www.refereex.com, our API, and our iOS/watchOS apps (collectively, our "Service"), and explains what information we collect, how it's used, and who it's shared with.
1. Information We Collect
- Account & identity data: your phone number, name, and referee/organization affiliation, used to identify and authenticate you.
- Game assignment data: the games, fields, dates, and roles assigned to you, plus any performance reviews or notes tied to your assignments.
- Location data: with your permission, our iOS app uses your device's location - including in the background - to detect when you're near an upcoming assigned game and offer one-tap navigation via Waze. Location is used only for this purpose, is not stored beyond what's needed to provide it, and is never sold or shared with advertisers.
- Push notification tokens: used to deliver assignment reminders, schedule changes, and proximity navigation prompts to your device.
- Messages you send us: if you use the scheduling assistant (via WhatsApp or Telegram), your messages are processed to generate a response (see "AI-assisted scheduling" below).
- Usage data: standard web/API request logs (IP address, browser/device type, timestamps) used for security and troubleshooting.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used solely to operate the referee scheduling service: assigning you to games, notifying you of your schedule and changes, helping you navigate to fields, and supporting communication between you and your referee organization. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to third parties.
3. WhatsApp / Messaging Notifications
Game assignments and schedule updates may be sent to your registered phone number via WhatsApp. To deliver these messages, your phone number and message content are shared with our messaging infrastructure providers (Meta/WhatsApp Business Platform, and/or Twilio, GreenAPI, depending on configuration) solely for message delivery.
4. AI-Assisted Scheduling
If you interact with the scheduling assistant (via WhatsApp or Telegram), your messages may be processed by an AI language model (hosted on AWS Bedrock) to understand your request and generate a scheduling response. This processing is used only to answer your query and is not used to build advertising profiles.
5. Apple Watch
If you use the RefereeX Apple Watch app, a summary of your upcoming games is synced directly from your iPhone to your paired Watch using Apple's on-device WatchConnectivity framework. This data does not pass through any additional third party.
6. Data Storage and Security
Data is stored on secured cloud infrastructure (AWS) and access is restricted to systems and personnel operating the referee organization's scheduling service. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs in our apps.
7. Your Data Protection Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us below. If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights covered by GDPR; if you are a California resident, you have rights covered by the CCPA.
8. Children's Privacy
RefereeX is intended for use by licensed adult sports referees and is not directed at children.
